100 years after the first whites arrived in America the first 20 slaves arrived in Virginia. Then the 250 years of slavery before the civil war. The slave population had risen to over 4 million.
The next 100 years up to 1960 blacks were legally denied civil rights, voting and other rights. Since then racism and discrimination has been hidden but as today's news shows it is still very real.
